In a well-edited Instagram reel, TUSC finally announced Spring Fling 2024’s headliner. The concert, thrown annually at Tufts since 1980, will this year be headlined by my cousin who goes to Northeastern and plays a mean bass guitar. His name’s Tommy, he’s half British, and he’s played guitar since he was six (from what I can remember). These days he’s principally on bass for his band “Leather Enema”. Other members of the band include Manny on keyboard, Stu on Drums, and Trix on lead vocals/electric guitar. Though Stu’s been real wishy-washy on coming to rehearsal recently and Tommy’s a little worried he might drop out of the band soon. Worst comes to worst, his friend Melvin could sub in for him but Melvin’s only been playing for like less than a year and he’s really not that good.

According to a TUSC representative, the band will be playing “mostly 90s alt-rock” as well as “some experimental shit Manny’s been cooking up with his roommate.” Leather Enema’s sure to put on a banging show — cheap too! Tommy said he’d do it for some Pizza Days socks and a bag of Sourpatch watermelon.

Students were a little mixed on the announcement. “It’s not really what I was hoping for,” said sophomore David Van Ripper, “they could have at least gotten a band from BU.”

Others were more hopeful. Junior Dominic Londolphin remarking that “their single that’s available on Soundcloud’s actually pretty well produced.” He added, “at least he’ll probably be on time, so long as the Green Line doesn’t shut down.”
